The ASTM D 6132-2020 standard describes the measurement of dry-film thickness of organic coatings applied to concrete using an ultrasound instrument. The standard applies to organic coating measurement on a variety of substrates (e.g. concrete, wood, plastic, metal). Measurement range is 8 μm to 7.60 mm. The standard states that the instrument may not be able to accurately measure in some cases, especially when the coating and substrate have similar compositions or densities.
