This standard specifies a method for testing the water resistance of coatings using a controlled condensing environment. The water resistance of coatings is assessed by condensation of heated saturated air on the surface of the coating specimen. The test is used for specification acceptance, quality control and research and development to show the water resistance of the coating system over a specified period of time. This method is suitable for metal, plastic and wood specimens, but the test results cannot be equivalent to the actual water exposure in the natural environment.
