This standard specifies two methods for the determination of iron and copper content in industrial acrylonitrile: Graphite furnace atomic absorption-tion spectrometry, GFAAS and inductively coupled plasma Mass spectrometry. Graphite furnace atomic absorption-tion spectrometry, GFAAS is suitable for the determination of iron and copper content in the range of 0.010 mg/kg to 1.000 mg/kg, while inductively coupled plasma Mass spectrometry is suitable for the determination of iron and copper content in the range of 0.005 mg/kg to 1.000 mg/kg. The standard provides specific operating procedures and testing requirements to ensure the accuracy and repeability of test results.
