This standard applies to the determination of Hardness of conductors of copper, aluminum and their alloys. It specifies the principles, equipment, specimen preparation and measurement procedures for the Hardness test using the Brinell method. This method calculates the Hardness value by applying a certain test force to the conductor surface and measuring the diameter of the indentation. The standard also includes a method for evaluating the test results, which is applicable to the case where the conductor Hardness does not exceed 150 HBW.
