This standard applies to the determination of nitrate nitrogen in drinking water, groundwater and clean surface water, using the Phenol Disulfonic Acid Spectrophotometric method, spec-trophotometry. The method is applicable to the nitrate nitrogen concentration range of 0.02~ 2.0mg/L, and the minimum detected concentration is 0.02mg/L. This method reacts nitrate with phenol disulfonic acid to generate yellow compounds. Using the Spectrophotometric method, spec-trophotometry is measured at a wavelength of 410nm. Interfering substances such as chlorides, nitrites and organic matter need to be properly treated to eliminate their effects.
