Part 2 of this standard describes two methods for the determination of silver content in alloy gold: the fire assay weighting method and the EDTA Titrimetric method. It is suitable for the range of silver content from 0.50% to 40.00% of the alloy gold (such as mineral gold, metallurgical crude products and recovered gold, etc.). The fire assay weighting method is used to determine the mass of gold and silver composite particles by separating the lead and base metal by ash blowing by encapsulating the alloy gold sample with lead foil at high temperature, and calculating the mass fraction of silver by comparing it with the synthetic gold and silver master standard. This method is not suitable for samples containing interfering elements (such as iridium, palladium, etc.). The instruments used include box high temperature furnaces, precision balances and gray dishes.
