This standard specifies methods for the determination of the thermo-adhesive performance of thermo-plasticity plastics and their composite thermo-covers, including definitions of terms, principles of methods, preparation of specimens, equipment requirements, test steps, analysis of results and report preparation. Applicable to testing the thermo-adhesive performance of materials for a specific time interval after the end of the heat seal until chilled down to Environmental temperature. The standard defines relevant terms for thermo-adhesive performance, such as surface separation of the sealing layer, failure mode, melt-through and cohesive failure, and describes performance testing methods under different heat seal conditions to ensure an accurate assessment of the heat-sealing effect of thermo-plasticity materials.
