This standard specifies a method for the determination of residues of 19 chlorinated phenols in dyestuff products using gas chromatograph - Mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The method is applicable to various classes of dyestuff products. Chlorinated phenol acetate is produced by extracting the chlorinated phenol with potassium carbonic acid solution in an ultrasonic bath followed by acetylation with acetic anhydride. The ester is extracted into n-hexane and analyzed and qualitative by GC/MS for quantification by the Peak area Internal standafard method. This standard provides an accurate method for the determination of chlorinated phenol residues in dyestuff.
