"GB/T 1730-2007 Paints and varnish pendulum damping test" is one of the important standards for sampling and testing methods for Paints, varnish and related products. This standard specifies the standard conditions for pendulum damping tests on single-layer or multi-layer coatings. Taking two types of pendulum damping tests, Koenig and Persaz as examples, the requirements for their structure, calibrating, operation procedures and test reports are described in detail. Hardness of coatings is assessed by measuring the damping time of amplitude attenuation during the swing cycle. The shorter the damping time, the softer the coating. This standard also includes provisions for environmental conditions to ensure the accuracy and comparability of test results.
