GB/T 12951-2009 standard specifies the technical requirements and inspection specifications for americium-241α radioactive sources (referred to as "americium alpha sources") used in ion-sensing smoke fire detectors. The standard covers the technical specifications, test methods, inspection rules, signs, inspection certificates, Encasement, transportation and storage requirements of americium alpha sources. The americium alpha source includes the americium-241 source sheet and the source bracket. The source sheet and the bracket are required to be closely matched and not loose. The impurity content of the nuclide americium-241 shall not exceed 1%. The covering layer shall be made of gold palladium alloy or equivalent material, and the source bracket shall be made of stainless steel or equivalent material. In addition, the standard also specifies the safety performance level to ensure the safety of the americium alpha source during use.
