This standard specifies the terms, definitions, classifications, technical requirements, inspection methods and inspection rules for withstand voltage testers, covering requirements for marking, Encasement, transportation and storage. It is applicable to AC and DC withstand voltage testers with digital display and analog indication of output voltage not higher than 15 kV. The standard does not apply to instruments with pulse voltage or transient voltage output voltage such as inter-turn Impact Voltage tester. The standard also includes environmental test methods and electrical equipment safety requirements to ensure Reliability and Stability of instruments under different environment conditions.
