This standard specifies the technical requirements for direct-acting analogue indicator ammeters for the measurement of maximum demand current in AC or DC circuits. The standard applies to meters that display the maximum demand current separately, and also to meters that contain Miscellaneous electricity measurement or control functions in the same housing. The standard does not cover meters with electronic circuits and does not include protection requirements for resistance to environmental conditions. Refer to IEC 60068 for environment testing.
