This document describes test methods for evaluating the inherent bioanalysis capability of plastic feedstocks and polymers in the marine environment without any environmental exposure or pretreatment. Tests are performed under aerobic, moderate temperature conditions to assess the eventual bioanalysis capability of materials in the marine environment, i.e. conversion to carbon dioxide, water and biomass. This document is not intended for the assessment of environmental hazards that materials may contain, nor for bioanalysis of life cycle and bioanalysis rates of plastic products.
