The ASTM D1654-08 (2016) e1 standard provides a method for evaluating and comparing the corrosion performance of substrates, pretreatments, or coating systems after exposure to a corrosive environment. The test method includes evaluation of corrosion after acceleration and atmospheric exposure testing, and detection of corrosion-related blistering, loss of adhesion at scribe marks, or failure of Miscellaneous films. The standard provides values in SI units and emphasizes that safety and health practices should be considered prior to use to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions. The ASTM D1654-08 (2016) e1 standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized standardization principles of the World Trade Organization Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade.
