The standard applies to biodegradation plastic materials that are produced or prepared for use in mulch film. The focus includes three aspects: composition control, biodegradation performance and negative impact on terrestrial organisms. The main content covers the restricted requirements for controlled metals, fluorine content, volatile solids, and the methods and evaluation standards for the determination of biodegradation rate, ecotoxicity test (such as plant growth toxicity test, earthworm test, etc.). The standard is equivalent to ISO 23517:2021, which is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Biobased Materials and Degradation Products, and was released on November 27, 2023 and officially implemented on June 1, 2024.
