RDS is an American company that has been developing and producing coated metering rods for more than 80 years (founded in 1936), and RDS coated rods have been favored by a large number of users in CHINA.
The Mayer stick application method is simple, accurate, uniform and inexpensive, making it the third popular coating method. Quickly change the coating weight and a wide range of film thicknesses to make it flexible enough for a wide range of substrates. We have experience in coating machine retrofits with metering rod coating stations and can provide a simple solution for most applications.
RDS offers a wide range of coating metering rods with different process specifications to meet the needs of a variety of industries such as coatings, window films, adhesive tapes, release liners, photovoltaic films, wall coverings, specialty papers, etc. Wire-wound, formed (slotted), double-wound, and gaped bars are available up to 12 feet in length. 15 different diameters of multi-grade stainless steel rods, more than 70 sizes of stainless steel wire. Customization is accepted.
Metering rod type

Wire winding rods
Original "Mayer" sticks. It was popular with Charles Mayer in the 1920s and remains hugely popular. Sizes are 3 to 75 and include many half-sizes. The size is the guide Wire diameter in mils (.001 inches)). The winding rod can be stripped and rewound to save costs and reduce waste. There is no minimum cost for the reel rod and there is no installation cost.
Forming rods
Formed (threaded, grooved, etc.) bars are rolled from solid steel bars and are very similar to wirewound bars. The size of the groove is the same as the cavity between the wire windings, which determines the thickness of the coating. However, the radius in the groove of the formed rod is less likely to clog and easier to clean than its wire-wound equivalent.
smoothclub
It is often used to smooth previously metered coatings onto paper, cardboard, and plastic films. The coating thickness is controlled by pressure (relative to the support rollers) or web sheet force. RDS smooth rods can be ground to meet any surface finish requirements, and hard chrome plating can significantly extend rod life.
Notched bars
For higher viscosity paints, a bar with a gap reduces clogging and eliminates lines. By wrapping smaller wires at certain spacing (see picture), the cavity is created that is both wide and shallow, allowing the thick coating to flow better. Smaller wires create smaller interruptions in the flow of the coating, allowing the coating to be wetted more completely. While a gap rod is less durable than a double-wound rod, it is also less expensive.
Double windingclub
For higher viscosity coatings, the double winding rod reduces clogging and eliminates lines. By wrapping a smaller wire around a larger wire (see figure), the cavity created is both wide and shallow, allowing the thick coating to flow better. A smaller top line creates smaller interruptions in the coating flow, resulting in a more complete wetting of the coating. Although a double winding rod is more expensive than a strip with clearance, it is also more durable.
