        HG/T 3862-2006 "Test Method for Yellow Index of Plastics" specifies the method for yellow index testing of colorless transparent, translucent and nearly white opaque plastics. This standard applies to plate, sheet, film and powder, granular specimens, but not to plastics containing fluorescent substances. The yellow index YI is characterized by a reference value of oxidation mg under the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) standard C Light source and can be used to evaluate the mass and aging of plastics. The yellow index of transmission of transparent plastics is affected by thickness and can only be compared at the same thickness. A positive value of yellow index measured by this method indicates that the material is yellow, and a negative value indicates that it is blue.
